Wavelet-based methods were introduced by Beylkin[5]
for the compression of matrices. In wavelet-based method the
magnitude of components of a matrix can be dramatically compressed
with the use of wavelet basis for discretisation of boundary integral
equations and the dense matrix property could be avoided by replacing
small-valued components with zero to such degree that the necessary
precision is kept. Applications of wavelet-based methods to BIEM
are found in [52,68,1,90,67].
