We consider an infinite elastic body which contains an array of 4
4 4 (=64) pennyshaped cracks (total DOF=72192) of
the same radius when . The centres of these cracks
are located regularly at the interval of in all the
coordinate directions. The directions of these cracks are taken at
random. The whole system is subjected to the same incident field as
in the previous example. The required CPU time to solve this
problem was 7548(sec). The real parts of the crack opening
displacements are plotted in Fig.2.
